Conscience by Henry David Thoreau

◆ Conscience :

In this poem "Conscience" stands for Inner sense and indirectly also ask the question :

 " Do I have my own Conscience ? "

The very first problem is society itself. Because there are innumerable tabboosin society and also confusion which suggest that life is not rhythmic. It is also said that conscience is based on fear not love.

This poem also talks about individuality because in society what happens with every individuality is that he/she does not sustain any individuality. There is no among people. He directly asked the question like ...

" Where is your individuality? "

The poem is actually in the form of debate where the speaker speaks to himself. The meaningful lines he shares are,

" I love a life, whose plot is simple
And does not thicken with every pimple."

Here plot means the life itself which is not at all straight and simple rather smoother with this. He interwoven other stories as well. He challenges ''The Bible" , according to which life has formed & the speaker clarifies that life is harder than Maths because there is no specific formula in life itself.

What he meant here by pimple is problems which occur in life. It also means something unpleasant and unwanted. The problems which pimple crop up in one's life.

   Thoreau likes the concept that Adam was faithful to Eve because he is going to live with wife not God. He is talking about hypocrisy and says that we all pretend  to be good in the underneath lines ;

" I love a soul not all of wood,
  Predestinated to be good,
  But true to the Backbone."

Our life is full of don'ts, right and wrongs but what about the third form names 'right wrong'.

● Thoreau belives that life is beyond the logic. It's like a poem which can have multiple interpretation. 1st he capitalizes God in the line...

" By whom the work Which God begun."

¶ Then he does not capitalize it in this line....

" If not good God, good devil."

¶ And then again he capitalizes him in this line...

" To cheer God along."

◆ Conclusion :

" What is this life
  If full of care?
We have no time to stand and stare."

Thus , Thoreau here talks about the freedom in which one can contemplate about or our his conscience, in which one can think about the answer of " What am I?" It is good to be alone sometimes when one can be free then they can think that its their Conscience.

Thank you.

Doctor Faustus by Cristopher Marlowe

"Doctor Faustus" is the most famous play written by Christopher Marlowe. Christopher Marlowe  It's directed by Matthew Dunster  . The error of judgement I can see in this whole play. Here, I am going to discuss about four questions. Which is asked by our sir in class here, I'm attaching the blog link of task. 1.The Play director by Matthew Dunster for globe theater ends with this scene...What does it signify? Obviously, It's indeed a scene that when Lucifer is celebrating his marvelous victory in the end of the play. According to the Christian morality, when someone repenting upon their sin then God gives them forgiveness. But here in this play the Christian morality doesn't work. Here evil wins at the end of the play. In this whole play, we can see the full of wavering of Doctor Faustus. In the end of the play Lucifer wins in tempting Doctor Faustus with the help of Mephistophilis. In the last scene Doctor Faustus feels regret but it's too much...

The Archetypes of Literature.... Northrop Frye

Northrop Frye, in full Herman Northrop Frye, Canadian educator and critic who wrote much on "Canadian Literature" and culture and became best known as one of the most important literary theorists of the 20th century. 1.What is Archetypal Criticism? What does the Archetypal critic do? In literary Criticism the term " archetype" denotes recurrent narratives designs, patterns of actions, character- type, themes & images which are identifiable in a wide variety of works of literature, as well as in myths, dreams and even social rituals. Such recurrent items are held to be the result of elemental & universal forms or patterns in the human psyche, whose effective embodiment in a literary work evokes a profound response from the attentive reader, because he or she shares the psychic archetypes expressed by the author. 2.What is Frye trying to prove by giving an analogy of "Physics to Nature" & "Criticism to Literature"?
