Movie review ...On The Modern Times by Charlie Chaplin


   "The Modern Times" is a 1936 American comedy film written & directed by Charlie Chaplin. In this film his iconic little tramp character struggles to survive in the Modern, industrialized world.
It is regarded as the last great silent film.

   The tone of the film is normally comic but deeply it's tragic.Modern time's films are very pro-poor. America is a pro-capitalist county. So, this movie is also in satirical way & political satire also.

   Critical observation and satire upon the mechanical life of modern time's people is described here in this film. The Modern industrialization is there in this film.

◆The major concept of this film:-

 The question is that in the mechanical life that how to be a human beings in different capacity?
The movie is upon that also.

The film was partly inspired by a conversation Chaplin had had with Mohandas K. Gandhi.G gandhi had commented to Chaplin about how in the current age, machines were taking over.

Although still a silent film, Chaplin would use mechanical effect to simulate character's voice and other effects in Modern Times.




◆ In this above video we can see that because of joblessness in that time, people go for thief for the concern of food.



◆ In this above picture we can see first is sheeple & other side people. So in the Modern Times all people went as same as that all sheeple.
No one was identified individually.
So in a way through this picture they convey the situation of the people of that time.
So through this picture we can understand that never become a crowd.

◆ I want to point out one quote which connect with this above picture which given below.



◆ Another major concept is that the main person who is handle all the things who considered as a Capitalist one.

◆ Red flag which shown in the film considered as a Communist or we can say that Marxist.....

◆ Knitting is the major work which all women were supposed to do.

◆ Dream for home or the imagination also considered here in the industrialization world.


◆ At the end of this film , we can see that this above image which indicate "Hope".
"Dawn" is a symbol of hope by showing that road.
   End of this image is very inspirational one which indicate that ....

    " Never give up.....that how the situation Worst."

 ● I want to conclude my point to say that .....In this film "Surreal world" we can see in Modern time which beyond reality through mechanical way.
